Spring Blend:

Fall Blend:
Step 1: Very ImportantTo obtain the maximum growth of Fall Blend you must first conduct a soil test to determine the pH of your soil. Optimum plant growth can only occur when your soil's pH is in the range of 6.0 to 7.2. When your soil's pH is lower than 6.0, add lime at a rate of two tons per acre or more until the soil's pH is within the range above.
Step 2: Plants need food to grow
Apply fertilizer at a rate of 200 to 400 lbs per acre. Fertilize the Fall Blend with 19-19-19 or 13-13-13, whichever is more available in your area.
Step 3: Sew the seed
Disc or till the ground 4 to 6 inches deep. Before a rain, broadcast your seed at a rate of 25 pounds per acre. Next, use a harrow type drag to cover the seeds approximately 1/2 inch, and use a cultipacker or heavy roller to ensure seed to soil contact.
The beauty of Brassica:
Southern Illinois Trophy Outfitters designed Fall Blend to attract deer from the beginning to the end of the hunting season. The Crimson Clover and Outfitter Choice Oats will bring deer in early and the turnips will keep them coming back to the plot even in the coldest months of the season.
Turnips are a brassica, which is a cool season annual, that is bitter tasting to the deer until after the first hard frost. This allows the plant to reach maturity before the herd starts grazing on it. Once the plant reaches maturity, and is exposed to a hard frost, the starches in the plants are converted to sugars and high energy carbohydrates making the sweet leaves irresistable to deer.
ENJOY THE HUNT!
